TightVNC version 2.8’s components are available in both free and commercial versions. If you want to utilise TightVNC source code in your own proprietary applications or scripts, you will need a commercial licence. Also, if the GNU GPL licence is not acceptable for any other reason, this may be a viable alternative.
U3 Smart Drives feature their own version of TightVNC. This program may be put on a U3 stick and enables you to utilise TightVNC (both server and viewer) in a portable manner. TightVNC does not utilise the host computer’s registry while running from a U3 drive and instead stores its settings and connection history (including passwords) on the flash drive.
